This is a move that is less than 450 miles. Make sure to inquire with your moving company as you may have to pay long distance charges even for short haul moves.

What is a local move?
This usually refers to moves that are less than 100 miles and within the same state.

What is an intrastate move?
This refers to a move of more than 100 miles within the same state.

?What is a transportation surcharge? 
This is an extra fee charged when the pickup or destination locations are very remote which results in less return weight for the moving company. 

What are additional services?
These include services such as appliance servicing, stair carries or shuttle service that you request or are required. They will result in additional charges.

What items should I move myself if I have time before the move?
We recommend that you focus on packing and moving any highly breakable objects such as pictures and collectibles as well as very sentimental items.

How are fees determined for a local move?
Most moving companies use an hourly rate for local moves. This price normally includes the driving time required to arrive at your home, to your destination and then back to the moving company.

Will my moving company get rid of any extra trash?
Yes, but they will charge you for any items they need to take to a waste disposal location, including the time required to drive to and from the area and the management fee required.

Will my moving company charge me for materials?
Most moving companies will provide quilted pads for protecting your furniture at no additional cost. However, you will most likely be charged for additional supplies such as tape, packing paper and boxes.

What should I do with the food in my fridge?
You must empty your refrigerator before moving it, so we recommend transporting your food and other perishables in a cooler during your move.

What is overflow? 
?Movers may have to leave some of your belongings behind if there is insufficient space in the moving van or truck. If this is the case, make sure to leave the least essential items for the next truck that will be heading to your area. ? 

How long do I have to inspect my belongings for lost or damaged items after the move?
You generally have 60 days to perform this inspection and notify your moving company of any problems.

What is hoisting? 
?Certain large awkward items such as wall units or pianos may have to be hoisted out of a window instead of being carried down a flight of stairs. Check with your moving company about the availability and cost of this service.
